Invitation from Scientific Convenor

The 2011 NSC Scientific Program is taking shape, with all major invited speakers confirmed and other lecture sessions filling fast.

The three international invited speakers are Professor Evan Kharasch from Washington University in St Louis, Professor Jay Brodsky from Stanford and Professor Robert Sneyd from Plymouth, UK.

The Australasian Invited Speaker is Dr Nolan McDonnell from King Edward Memorial Hospital for Women in Perth.

In addition to the impressive line up of plenary lectures there will be over a hundred concurrent lecture sessions, workshops and PBLDs to choose from during the course of the 4 day meeting.

The theme of the 2011 NSC is "Green and Growing" and in keeping with the theme there will be a number of inspirational sessions devoted to climate change, the environment and what we as anaesthetists can do to mitigate the problem.

The 2011 NSC will see the introduction of a higher profile for moderated poster sessions, a sponsored speaker session each morning in lieu of the usual breakfast sessions and a final "Debunking the myths and sacred cows" session moderated by Dr Norman Swan, the host of ABCs Health Report.

Anaesthetic trainees will be catered for with a specific GASACT series of lectures and workshops on the Saturday of the Congress.

If you want to get the very latest anaesthetic updates in addition to a great social program, then come to the NSC from 8 - 11 September 2011.
